Alameda Baptist Church History

On October 18, 1964 in the Mayes Funeral Home Chapel, twenty-five Christians met to start a mission named the Lakeview Baptist Mission with Immanuel Baptist Church as the sponsoring Church. Rev. Carl Stringer preached the first sermon. Rev. Vernon Daniels was called as the first pastor.

The Lakeview Baptist Mission held a ground breaking service on November 8, 1964, at the corner of Alameda Street and Mount Vernon Drive. The church moved into the new building on June 6, 1965. Lakeview Baptist Mission changed their name to Alameda Baptist Church on July 26, 1970 when they constituted as a church. .

Many lives have been touched and changed by the Lord Jesus Christ. We are still reaching people for Jesus Christ. Our church witness for the Lord Jesus Christ remains constant. Our hope for the future is exciting. Our love for each other and our love to a dying world is based on the love we have found in our God.
